Linda Cunningham: Whose Land? Whose God?

July 7 – August 20, 2017

Linda Cunningham · Flat File: Jeanne Heifetz, Glendalys Medina

Layers of torn edges and severed forms distinguish Linda Cunningham's large format mixed media paper constructions. The tactile sensibility of her work comes from her interest in the qualities of materials, observed or found. She transforms found materials, a kind of "Urban Mining," yet preserves their cast-off qualities. In the wall-constructions she fuses relief elements, such as exposed structural fragments or sand-cast bronze, shaped by the physical process of the pour. Conceptually clear, she casts the bronze forms from military surplus scrap.

Opening reception: Thursday, July 13, 6–8 pm. Bushwick Summer Fridays: Friday, July 21, 6–9 pm. Artists Talk: Sunday, August 6, 3 pm.

Press: first indigo and lifestyle, Inka Juslin, "Linda Cunningham's Whose Land? Whose God?," July 31, 2017.
